It has been a while since my last blog post. Mostly, this is because I've been busy, working on several web series, including producing/directing for Jewbellish: The Show and directing for L'Chaim LA. I was also fortunate to get hired on to the sci fi project, Space Command as a 1st Assistant Director. I've got another 1st AD gig coming up next month, and there are quite a few more irons heating up in the fire.
I'd like to get back to blogging about this stuff, even if it's only a note or two every once in a while. For one thing, I've hired a wonderful web designer, Bryan McClure, to build a new website for me at www.arnonshorr.com. The site's purpose is to consolidate and present evidence of my proficiency as a filmmaker. And yes, there's a link to this blog, so I had better write more!
This past year, one of the things I've learned most clearly is that building a career in this industry requires building evidence of one's abilities. This is certainly not a new idea, but Space Command's Marc Zicree helped clarify it in a "Supermentors" class I took with him about a year and a half ago. With over 200,000 views of the "Jewbellish" episodes I produced, I have some hard numbers to support the argument that I can deliver quality entertainment to people who aren't just friends and family.
More on evidence-building later -- it's an important subject, and merits its own blog post.
Anyhow, my new website isn't quite ready yet, but it's there, so please give it a look and let me know what you think!
