Fire Under my Seat

Well, my last experiment didn't work (apparently whoever answers emails at Gale Anne Hurd's company doesn't have a sense of humor), but things have been progressing nicely this week.

I spent a few hours at the American Film Market about a week and a half ago, and met a Croatian producer there who specializes in action films.  He was nice enough to meet with me in West Hollywood yesterday, where my intention was to ask him all sorts of questions about how he hires directors.

Instead, he and a few of his friends grilled me on my own interests in film.  In particular, they wanted to know what kinds of movies really spark my interest, and if I have any that I'd like to make.

I didn't expect to bring up "Wayfarers" (the short I've been developing on-and-off for the last year), but when I did, it sparked something, and the producer said to me:

"This could be a great feature!  90 pages, maybe a $500k budget.  You should write this as an action feature."

Well, I've got my homework now, and I'm very excited about it.  I figure, if I write about two pages a day, I can take this 16 page script to 90 pages in just over a month.  I'd like to do that.  Check back with me on December 16 to see how I'm doing...
