Job Application Fatigue - My Solution

Sometimes, I get rather tired of the whole job application process.  Writing those cover letters can get especially draining.  Not only is it the same old thing over and over again, but it's always the same tension between wanting to say what I'm really worth (a lot!) without sounding pompous or arrogant.

I caught a recent job posting (shared by the mysterious industry blogger, "Temp X", @tempdiaries on Twitter) that seemed exciting, but I was just too burnt out of the whole cover letter thing to write anything formal.  Instead, I sent this:

Dear Valhalla Entertainment,

To intern at Valhalla would rock!
My career’s biggest-yet building block!
I would say, “have you heard?
Now I work for Ms. Hurd!”
And my friends would no-doubt be in shock!

On Twitter and Facebook I’m spry,
And my Klout score is decently high.
It will give you a thrill,
My vocabular skill,
So why don’t you give me a try?

My resume you can find here: http://visualcv.com/shorr
If a reference you want, have no fear!
You will find them within
The website called LinkedIN: http://www.linkedin.com/in/shorr
Or, ask for them. They will appear!

Sincerely,
-Arnon Shorr

Does anyone know if Gale Anne Hurd (producer of Terminator films, The Walking Dead, etc.) has a sense of humor?
-Arnon
